State Conference 2020:
Call for Conference Sessions Proposals


The 2020 SC EPSCoR State Conference will have parallel session to encourage collaboration within South Carolina on a broader list of topics. The SC EPSCoR Program welcomes proposals for Conference Sessions to showcase timely research of national interest and to broaden the network of collaborators on these research topics.

Conference Session proposals are solicited on any of the Vision 2025 and the NSF Big Ideas topics (see below) or topics of national importance. A session is 90-minutes in duration and the should be composed of four presentations on the same topic. Those interested in organizing and leading a session at the State Conference should contact April Heyward with the proposed session topic, a brief statement about the topic and its relevance and potential for broadening collaboration, and four potential presenters (not to exceed one page).

Sessions may be proposed on any of the following topics:

  • Vision 2025: Advancing South Carolina’s Capacity and Expertise in Science and Technology
  • The NSF Big Ideas:
    • Future of Work at the Human-Technology Frontier
    • Harnessing the Data Revolution
    • Quantum Leap
    • Understanding the Rules of Life
    • Windows on the Universe
    • Broadening Participation in STEM (See NSF Includes Description)
  • Other topics of national interest

Deadlines

  • Friday, January 10: Deadline for submitting Session ideas
  • Wednesday, January 15: Notification of Authors
  • Monday, March 2: Deadline for submitting all Abstracts for approved sessions
