Registration is now open for the 2018 SC EPSCoR State Conference. Registration is free, but seating is limited!
This event is open to everyone – students, faculty, industry, legislature, anyone who wants to learn more about STEM research in South Carolina facilitated by the SC EPSCoR Office.
The Program will include research presentation sessions, poster sessions (we received over 100 undergrad and grad students, postdocs and faculty posters!), a session on best practices in recruiting and retaining under-represented students in STEM fields, networking opportunities and more!
Although registration is not mandatory to be able attend, we can only plan lunches for those who do pre-register. Seating is limited. Register today!

Phase-0 Program Accepting Solicitations
The Phase-0 Program supports SC small businesses in their proposal development activities to compete effectively for SBIR/STTR Federal funding.
Similar to previous years, the Phase-0 Program is open to proposals in support of Vision 2025, the South Carolina Science and Technology Plan. Proposals that support the MADE in SC initiative are encouraged and can request additional funding for student internships.
Funding for the Phase-0 Program is intended to support proposal development activities.
- Deadline: Tuesday, March 27, by 5 pm
- Maximum Funding Amount Per Project: $6,000
- (Only for MADE in SC relevant proposals) Maximum Funding for Undergrad Student Internships: $3,000
- Award Duration: 12 months
- Estimate # of Awards: Up to 8 Awards
- Eligibility: SC-based American-owned small businesses

SC EPSCoR goes to Washington
A group of academic leadership from South Carolina recently went to Capitol Hill to visit the SC Congressional Delegation offices to personally thank the members for their support of federal EPSCoR/IDeA programs offered by the NSF, NIH, DOE, NASA, and the USDA.
During this visit, the team highlighted the impact of the EPSCoR/IDeA programs on our state research infrastructure and students.

• Nature’s machinery through the prism of physics, biology, chemistry and engineering: REU program at Clemson. Application due Friday, March 9.
• Guam Ecosystems Collaboratorium. Application due Thursday, March 15.
• Experimental and Computational Materials Research: REU program at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Application due Sunday, April 1.
NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Program (S-STEM). The program focuses on educational developments in STEM of low-income students. Call for Institutional Membership. Leaders of biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, health sciences programs at SC Institutions that train undergrad students (four-year undergrad institutions) or community colleges with transfer programs are invited to submit proposals for participation in the competitive renewal application for the next phase of SC INBRE. Info Meeting on Wednesday, April 11, 2 to 3:30 pm, USC School of Medicine. Proposals due Friday, June 1, 2018, 5 pm EST.

NSF EPSCoR RII Track-4: EPSCoR Research Fellows. Deadline is NEXT Tuesday, March 13. For non-tenured investigators to develop research through extended collaborative visits to the nation’s premier private, government, or academic research centers. There's a limit of 3 proposals per institution.
