The MADE in SC initiative supports the hiring of 17 new faculty members at five of South Carolina’s institutions. Special emphasis will be placed on hiring from under-represented groups.

  • Assistant Professor (tenure-track), Bioorganic Chemistry, University of South Carolina
    Anticipated start date of August 16, 2018. Possible research areas could include but are not limited to chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, glycobiology, and combinatorial chemistry or molecular sensing applied to biological problems. Candidates are expected to develop a cutting-edge, externally funded research program and have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in both organic chemistry and biochemistry.   • Assistant Professor (tenure-track), Mathematics, University of South Carolina
    Anticipated start date of August 16, 2018. Areas of particular interest include data assimilation and parameter estimation, reduced order modeling and related stable variational formulations of underlying PDE models, or machine learning in structural imaging. An overarching theme for the research conducted in the DASIV center is the development of new syntheses of data-driven and model based methodologies. Review of applications will begin on December 31, 2017, and continue until the position is filled. To ensure consideration, applications should be received by January 8, 2018.

  • Assistant Professor (tenure-track), Computational Science, USC Beaufort – TWO positions available
    Preferred candidates would be able to broadly participate in multi-disciplinary research in the areas of materials science or engineering, statewide. The expected teaching load in Computational Science is 9 credit hours per semester, and the new hires will receive substantial course releases from an NSF grant for the first two years.
