About the 2018 State Conference

The 2018 SC EPSCoR/IDeA State Conference is right around the corner. Building on last year’s theme of Convergent Research, we are focusing this year on Collaborative Research.

Presentations will address research topics from Vision 2025: Advancing South Carolina’s Capacity and Expertise in Science and Technology and the NSF Big Ideas (NSF Big Ideas video). Of course, expect presentations on MADE in SC research topics!

We can't tell you everything right now, but we can tell you this:

  • WHEN: Saturday, April 7
  • WHERE: Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, Columbia, SC – plenty of free parking!
  • WHO: Open to everyone – students, faculty, industry, legislature
  • WHAT: The Program will include research presentation sessions, poster sessions, a session on best practices in recruiting and retaining underrepresented minority and female faculty and students in STEM fields, and a luncheon speaker!
  • WHY ATTEND: South Carolina is a very broad state, both geographically and in the range of research conducted by its faculty. The Conference will facilitate networking opportunities to meet your next collaborator!

Think ahead! In about three years, we will again start the state-wide competition to identify the team that will submit the proposal on behalf of the State for the next NSF EPSCoR RII Track-1 grant ($20M). So, take this opportunity to begin building your network or strengthen your existing relationships now!

And, to eliminate conflicts with classes, we’ve moved the Conference to a Saturday.

Come spend a day in Soda City and leave with some big ideas for research and great connections!
